o Signage —
■ Shifting to maximum sign area by zoning district or a percentage of wall
area based on road frontage.
■ Review of dynamic sign standards and expand their use beyond menu
board signs. Performance standards to be created for impacts such as
movement, flashing, brightness, etc.
o Landscaping —
■ HKGi to analyze current requirements for minimum tree planting to
ensure not overplanting a lot. An alternative approach would be to base
tree requirements on the amount of area available to plant and use a ratio
of number of trees to square feet of landscape area to establish the
appropriate number for the site.
o Exterior Storage —
■ Ordinance language to address general or vague standards making it
difficult to administer and/or enforce: 1) setting a maximum percentage of
the property to be allocated to accessory storage, 2) regulating overnight
parking of various types of vehicles by differentiating between company
vehicles, customer vehicles, scrap vehicles, semitrailers, etc., 3) requiring
the location of accessory storage and certain vehicles in the side or rear
yard, including provisions for what is allowed if the property is located on
a corner lot, and 4) requiring increased screening provisions for accessory
storage or vehicles from public view.
o Outdoor Lighting —
■ Review of standards centered on the need to control excessive lighting that
might be a nuisance to adjacent residential properties. Dark Sky lighting
standards and HKGi to make suggestions on language to be considered as
part of this review.
Budget Impact
N/A
Attachment
Attachment A — HKGi Summary Memo
Attachment B — Draft Non -Residential Use Table
Attachment C — Zoning Map
