VII. ESTIMATED COSTS
Detailed estimates of probable construction costs have been prepared for the improvements
described in this report and are included in Appendix B. All costs are based on anticipated unit
prices for the 2026 construction season based on actual bid prices for similar projects. Actual costs
will be determined through competitive bids following the final design for the project. All
estimated costs also include a 10% contingency and 27% overhead allowance for legal,
engineering, administrative, and finance costs. Table 2 below contains a summary of the
estimated total project costs for the recommended base project improvements, inclusive of
construction costs, contingency, and overhead allowance.
One design alternate was evaluated as part of the preliminary design for the potential removal of
accumulated sediment at five delta locations in Karth Lake. Also, three options were evaluated for
improvements to the Karth Lake pump system to better monitor the lake level and possibly
automate the pump operations. A summary of the estimated project costs associated with the
design alternate and the estimated project costs associated with the three design options is
presented in Table 3 below (includes 10% contingency and 27% overhead).
It is planned to bid the project with a bid alternate for the Karth Lake dredging work and the Karth
Lake pump system improvements, if approved. This will allow flexibility to include or remove these
work items from the project based on the actual prices bid by the contractor to complete the
work.
