. MINUTES
CITY OF ARDEN HILLS, MINNESOTA
WORKSESSION CITY COUNCIL MEETING
OCTOBER 19, 1992
4:30 p.m. - CITY HALL
CALL TO ORDER/ROLL CALL
Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, Mayor Sather called to
order the Worksession City Council meeting at 4:30 p.m. Present:
Mayor Sather, councilmembers Paul Malone, and Dale Hicks.
Absent: Councilmembers JoAnn Growe and Thomas Mahowald. Also
present was: Clerk Administrator, Dorothy Person.
The City Council met in a worksession for discussion and review
of independent contractors and other contractors of City
services.
The Council agreed that following the review of independent
contractors, each of the independent contractors will be
contacted by letter through the Administrator to forward in
writing the reasons they believe the city should continue
contracting them for the year, 1993.
At the city Council Worksession meeting of November 16, 1992,
. these letters of interest will be reviewed for any further
questions with the possible appointments to be made as usual at
the organizational meeting in January, 1993.
Other contractors' status were reviewed. These include animal
control, health, inspections, code enforcement, diseased trees,
weed inspector, and forester. Discussion followed regarding the
role of these contractors versus employee status.
It was agreed that animal control is needed on a 24-hour on-call
basis and that alternatives should be sought by the city rather
than through the Community Services Officer position. In
addition, the Administrator will contact each of these contractor
positions asking for similar information to the other independent
contractors.
The timetable for review and possible appointment in 1993 will be
similar to the above independent contractors.
ADJOURN
MOTION: Hicks moved, seconded by Malone, to adjourn the meeting
at 5:15 p.m. Motion carried unanimously. (4-0) .
~~
. Dorothy Administrator
