The roll bein:J called the <br />following members were present: Acting Mayor Dale Hicks, <br />Councilmernbers Paul Malone, Beverly Aplikavski and Dennis Probst. <br />Also present: City Administrator Dorothy Person, Public Works <br />SUperintendent Dan Winkel, City A=untant Terry Post, City <br />Engineers Terry Maurer and Pat Arlig. <br /> <br />AOOPI' AGENDA <br /> <br />Malone moved, seconded by Probst, to adopt the March 16, <br />1993 agenda as presented. Motion =ied unanimously (4-0). <br /> <br />update of T.H. 51/Snelling Median: Maurer referred to his letter <br />of 3-9-93 to Mr". Tool O'Keefe, Minnesota Department of <br />Transportation. Maurer understands the MNOOI' Plarming Section <br />viewed the signalized intersection as a viable option, and the <br />MNOOI' Traffic Section does not view it as an option. He further <br />states there is an internal MNOOI' meeting set for March 25, 1993 <br />for the Planning and Traffic Section to further discuss this <br />llIatter. Maurer asked Council if he should attend this meeting on <br />behalf of the city. If it is the intent of MNOOI' to reject the <br />signalized intersection option, there should not be any further <br />feasibility studies completed and residents should be notified at <br />the 3-29-93 Public Informational Meeting of this intent. The <br />issue of widening the County Road E bridge should also be <br />addressed. Council directed Maurer to attend the 3-25-93 meeting. <br /> <br />M:lTION: <br /> <br />Alternatives were reviewed regarding the Lydia Avenue and its <br />wetland issues. Potentially, this option =uld be very cost <br />prohibited. <br /> <br />Aplikowski commented if there will be a reconfiguration of 1694 at <br />Snelling Avenue and hope that as part of the project, the state <br />=uld look at the speed issues on south bound Snelling and reduce <br />the speed limit. <br /> <br />water Tower Repair: Dan Winkel referred to his memo included in <br />Worksession packet and outlined the stnlctural issues. The llIajor <br />rust problems are the structural pieces that hold the top of the <br />dome sections together. This area is above the water line, and <br />there is no problem of rust in the water. The dome area is bolted <br />rot not welded stnlcturally to bring up to cede. Certain parts of <br />
