Arden Hills Council January 11, 1993 7 Councilmember Malone commended Bergeron on the reporting format presented for Council review and asked specific questions as to what each category includes. Councilmember Malone asked if deputies have been reassigned due to recent deputy retirements. Bergeron reported reassignments have been made; he listed those assignments. Administrator Person noted that a law enforcement contract with Ramsey County Sheriff's Department has been in place for several years, and the proposed changes for 1993 are: 1) standardized formal agreement with all municipalities contracting with the Sheriff's Department for service, 2) provision for the contract to be self-renewing, 3) Definition of the Contract City Group and a dispute resolution process, 4) Extension of the number of days either party may terminate the agreement from 90 days to 180 days, and 5) Elimination of the cancellation clause which allowed the County to terminate the agreement in case of insurance cancellation of the municipality. Councilmember Malone advised Bergeron that should there be a shifting of costs (relating specifically to communications consolidation) in the future, the City must work within budget constraints. Bergeron stated that he does not anticipate additional costs related to potential communications consolidation, but if that occurs, it is understood that there are budgets constraints and time lines of several agencies which would need to be considered. Mayor Sather thanked Commander Bergeron for his visit and presentation. MOTION: Malone moved, seconded by Aplikowski, to approve the Law Enforcement Services Agreement for 1993 including the five areas of change from previous years. Motion carried unanimously (3-0).
