Flow Testing (per event)15 FTE labor hours required, 1 FTE required, high priority (approx. 10 appts <br />per year). <br />Flow testing is conducted by contractor or engineering firms onsite to take measurements of actual <br />water flows. This is usually done for the purposes of fire suppression designs within a building. PW <br />coordinates this work and operates the appropriate hydrant, or hydrants, identified by the PW <br />Superintendent and the project engineer. <br />Private water service inspections are prompted by a utility repair permit and completed by PW staff. <br />Gopher State One Call (GSOC) Utility Locating 800 FTE labor hours required, 1 FTE required, high <br />priority. <br />GSOC utility locating is mandated by law and completed during the normal work week. There are cases <br />where an "emergency" locate is needed. In those cases, PW on -call staff respond outside of normal <br />work hours. <br />• PW staff are responsible for locating and marking city -owned watermain, sanitary sewer, storm <br />sewer, irrigation, city -owned electric, and/or city -owned fiber optic lines. <br />• In 2024, PW received 1,110 GSOC Utility Locate requests. <br />Below is a screenshot of the GSOC utility locating information PW staff uses to prioritize, document, and <br />complete locate tickets that are mandated by MN state statute.
