(5-0) <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Hicks Doted that he would like to see berming along County Road <br />E, where feasible, and the sugge.ted 60' spacing of treea as <br />recommended by the City Planner. <br /> <br />Proposal for Zoning Ordinance Amendment to Control <br />Satellite Dishes and Antennas <br /> <br />Mulcahy said he requested that this item be placed on the agenda <br />for Council's conaideration; expressed concern about the aPpear- <br />ance of satellite diahes and antennas; noted that the City Code <br />apparently has notbing specifically regulating these structures. <br /> <br />After discussion, Miller was requested to report to Council on <br />specific ordinance regulations of satellite dishes, etc. at the <br />August 8th meeting. <br /> <br />Request for Peddler's Permit, Junior Careers - Leon Allen <br /> <br />Council was referred'to Appl~cation for Peddler'a Permit for <br />Junior Careers by Leon Allen. <br /> <br />Allen explained that they sell three types of cookies and candy <br />at $3.00/box; product ia sold door to door by Junior Careers <br />children for which they are paid 600/box plus a 100 . "bonus <br />plan. Allen said they bave six crews working at present; children <br />are working toward a trip to Disney World, plus extra bonuses. <br />Allen said the compsny puts most of the money back into the child- <br />ren; has different programs. Allen explained that the company <br />is owned by Rothchild Candy in New York; said their name does not <br />appear on the candy or cookie boxes; noted that the products are <br />sold allover the U.S. <br /> <br />Allen said his craws are from north Minneapolis; all are well- <br />mannered kids; they work in pairs. Allen said he gets,800/box <br />and he supplies the bonuses; crews work a 6 day/week; children <br />are 13-16 years of age. The average sales/day ia 25-30 boxes <br />(high) or 10-20 boxes (low) not consistent, seems to depend on <br />the area. Allen said they have canvassed in Mpls., Minnetonka, <br />Brooklyn Center, Eden Prairie and are currently working in <br />Coon Rapids; practice haa been to canvass an area once a year. <br /> <br />McNiesh noted that a list of the sale. people and children has 4It <br />been submitted a. well as the car to be used. reported no <br />problems f~ 'd in the cheek which was made. <br /> <br />After discussion, Mulcahy moved to grant a Peddler's Permit for <br />Junior Careers for one canvass of the City of Arden Hills, not <br />to exceed 3 months, beginning July 18, 1983. Motion was seconded <br />by Christiansen. Motion carried (Mulcahy, Christiansen, McAllister, <br />Woodburn voting in favor of the motion.
