CONSENT ITEM - 8E <br />'It <br />-fi` ��EN HILLS <br />MEMORANDUM <br />DATE: August 25, 2025 <br />TO: Honorable Mayor and City Councilmembers <br />FROM: Jessica Jagoe, City Administrator <br />SUBJECT: City Statement regarding Immigration Activities <br />Budgeted Amount: Estimated Amount: Funding Source: <br />N/A N/A N/A <br />Council Should Consider <br />Motions to approve, table, or deny the following: <br />• Statement regarding Immigration Activities for the City's website. <br />Background <br />At the August 1lth meeting, the City Council discussed the City issuing a statement similar to the <br />City of Shoreview regarding the safety of immigrants and human rights. Staff was given direction to <br />draft a statement on immigration activities and that this language be forwarded to the City Council <br />for consideration prior to approval at a Council meeting. Following that meeting, a draft statement <br />was routed to Council for comment. Based on the comments received, staff revised the language and <br />is bringing forward a draft statement reflective of Council feedback. <br />The City of Arden Hills is aware of some community concerns regarding deportation <br />activities in Minnesota and across the United States. Our vision has a goal to enhance the <br />health, safety, and well-being of all who live, work, and play in the City. At the core of that <br />value is ensuring that everyone who enjoys our community feels safe.
