cul-de-sac or the through street.
I think there was an estimate that
with the street was around 4/10 of

At the last meeting, I recall,
the total acreage to be used
an acre. Is that correct?

.

MAYOR WOODBURN: I think the figure was about that.

MR. BOB VOSlKA: One of the things I would like to bring up -
I live in the Briarknoll development and we do have very limited
access to the park right now. There is a plan for a through-
path through to the park, but in actuality all it is is a
graded path right now and we're very dependent on the weather
as to whether we can get in the park or not. Last summer,
actually, myself and my family had to go around'on Hamline
Avenue in order to get in on the south side of the park in order
to get into Floral Park. Right now, there is very limited
access for the people in Briarknoll to get into the park. Also,
in talking with some of the neighbors, the park is a very beau-
tiful park, but in actuality we feel it is too secluded. A
lot of people are not comfortable with letting their young
children go over to the park, children under ten years old.
In reality, it's too secluded. I feel the access with the
street - where people can either come in on the street, get
higher visibility and as far as a safer park for the children -
I feel it would be much better. The other issue related to the
use of the park - the park, in my understanding, has a total
of in excess of 20 acres. I know there were some people that
were concerned about using up good park space, but in reality,
4/10 of an acre is about only 2% of the total park use. I
really don't think that's an issue, as far as being able to
feed the actual traffic, recreational traffic into the park.
One of the other issues I would like to cover is that there are
approximately 95 residential lots within Briarknoll. I think
25 of them are inhabited now. As far as the people partici-
pating with the Council tonight, there are really only 25%
of the people that can participate and 75% that will be future
residents. I'd like to speak for the people that are now
residents in Briarknoll and also the additional 75 residents
that would like to be able to use the park.

MR. CHRISTOFFERSEN: Your Honor, the acreage that would
be taken up by the paved surface, with concrete curb and gutter,
is about half an acre - about 550 feet long.

MAYOR WOODBURN: Have there been any other figures put
forth, that you are aware of?

.

MR. CHRISTOFFERSEN: 4/10 is what I estimated the last
time.

MAYOR WOODBURN: As far as how it affects the park?

MR. CHRISTOFFERSEN: Not that I'm aware of. I think ,he
Council discussed it at a meeting, about the percent of usage
by the people in the area.

17
