Proposed Language: <br />Section 400.01. General Provisions <br />• Call Duck. A specific breed of duck known for being especially loud and chatty and used <br />exclusively for either showing, ornamental, or pet purposes. <br />• Coop. An accessory structure for the keeping or housing of chickens or ducks permitted <br />by the ordinance. <br />• Drake. A male duck. <br />• Exercise yard. Is a larger fenced area adjacent to ehieken a coop and pen that provides <br />space for exercise and foraging for the birds when supervised. <br />• Hen. IAA female chicken or duck. <br />Section 410.01 Subd. 3, Chickens License <br />Subd. 3 Chickens/Ducks License. All chickens and ducks within the City of Arden Hills, except <br />as hereinafter provided, shall be licensed. <br />A. Application. Within thirty (30) days after acquiring possession of a chicken or a duck <br />which has not been licensed by the City of Arden Hills, the owner of the chicken(s)/ducks shall <br />make application for a chickens/ducks license. The application shall be on forms provided by <br />the City of Arden Hills. If the Applicant is a renter, the Property Owner signature shall be <br />required on the license application form. <br />B. Neighbor Consent -Notification. The Applicant shall be responsible for providing written <br />notification to the neighbors immediately adjacent to the property of their intent to keep <br />chickens/ducks. As part of the application review, the prospective license holder shall certify that <br />they have provided the required written notification of their intent to keep chickens/ducks. This <br />notifieation will be distribtited in the fefmat provided by the City. Neighbor vffitten responses <br />will be retttmed to the City. The fee will be established by City Council Resolution. <br />D. Duration of License. A two-year license shall be issued. <br />E. Issuance of License. Upon completion of the application form and receipt of the license <br />fee, the City Administrator shall cause a chicken/duck license to be issued to the applicant <br />subject to: <br />(1) Leg banding of all ehiekens is fequir-ed. The bands must identify the owner an <br />the evffier-'s dares and telephone number-. <br />(2-) (1) No more than seven (7) hens shall be housed or kept on any one (1) residential <br />lot with the issuance of a City license. <br />(3) (2) Dead chickens and ducks must be disposed of according to the Minnesota <br />Board of Animal Health rules which require chicken and duck carcasses to be <br />disposed of as soon as possible after death, usually within forty-eight (48) to <br />Page 2 of 6 <br />
