•y CITY OF ARDEN HILLS
Qo• m 4364 WEST ROUND LAKE ROAD
•
ARDEN HILLS, MN 55112-5794
August 3, 2000
Steve Perra
Ace Solid Waste Inc.
3118 NW 162nd Lane
Andover, MN 55304
RE: Garbage Collection Days
Dear Mr. Perra:
The Arden Hills City Council passed a new ordinance, #319, relating to the collection of
garbage and refuse at their July 31, 2000, Council Meeting. This ordinance states that;
The collection of garbage and other refuse shall be made at least once each
week by a duly licensed collector. In regard to the collection of household
generated garbage and refuse, the City shall be divided into two zones.
Zone 1 is that portion of the City located south of Interstate 694. Zone 2 is
that portion of the City located north of Interstate 694. Licensed
residential collectors shall arrange customer collection routes and schedule
so that collection occurs in Zone 1 on Tuesday of each week and in Zone 2
on Wednesday of each week, unless the designated collection date is a
holiday, in which event collection will occur on the day following the
holiday. This ordinance becomes effective on January 1, 2001.
The City realizes and apologizes for the burden this places on the haulers and the
inconvenience it may cause to some of the residents. However, most people feel the
standardization of pickup days will have a positive effect on the City.
The days of Tuesday and Wednesday were picked following discussions with haulers.
These were the days most garbage and refuse is currently picked up, so the impact on
haulers and residents is minimized. Another consideration was that Wednesday is already
the recycling day, which coincides with garbage and refuse pickup north of Interstate 694.
The City will begin working with the recycling contract to try and change the pickup date to
Tuesday in the area south of Interstate 694. This way recycling days will coincide with
garbage and refuse hauling in all areas of the City at some point.
The City Council, and the Operations & Finance Committee, want to thank the haulers for
their time, their ideas and their commitment to work with the City.
dioh,
Dwayne St. 'ord
Public Works Director
PHONE: (651) 633-5676 • FAX (651) 633-7839
