Page 1 of 3 <br />EDC AGENDA ITEM –3A <br />MEMORANDUM <br />DATE: June 25, 2025 <br />TO: Economic Development Commission Chair and Commissioners <br />FROM: Elena Fransen, Senior Planner <br />SUBJECT: Economic Development Commission Work Plan Review <br />Requested Action <br />The Economic Development Commission should review and discuss the work plan items <br />identified in 2024 and how these items factor into the 2025 work of the EDC. Intended results <br />of the discussion include adapting the 2024 Work Plan for 2025 and prioritizing tasks <br />for the commission. <br />Background <br />At the January 10, 2024 EDC meeting, commission members discussed initiatives and strategies <br />for the commission’s work plan. Some ideas included a business survey, business directory with a <br />map, business highlights in the City Newsletter, a business welcome packet, community event for <br />business networking as well as a community event for residents to learn about local businesses. <br />At the February 28, 2024 EDC meeting, staff presented the drafted EDC Work plan template which <br />included the drafted EDC Mission, Programs/Initiatives, and Strategies/Specifics. Attachment A <br />is included with the language approved by the EDC. <br />At the March 27 meeting, Economic Development Commission reviewed the drafted work plan <br />and discussed which of the listed strategies and specific tasks to prioritize (Attachment B). At the <br />April 24 meeting, commission members were asked to rank the items and indicate individual <br />interest in working on items within smaller groups or sub-committees. <br />At the May 22, the EDC reviewed the results from the strategy ranking sheet completed at the <br />April EDC meeting (Attachment C). The EDC discussed the top three strategies identified by <br />commissioners: <br />1.In-person business visits <br />2.In-depth business survey <br />3.Business resources webpage on City website – include events
