Page 1 of 3 <br /> <br /> EDC AGENDA ITEM –3A <br /> <br />MEMORANDUM <br /> <br />DATE: July 23, 2025 <br /> <br />TO: Economic Development Commission Chair and Commissioners <br /> <br />FROM: Elena Fransen, AICP, Senior Planner <br /> <br />SUBJECT: EDC Business Event Updates <br /> <br />Requested Action <br /> <br />The Economic Development Commission should discuss planning updates for the business event <br />proposed for October. Discussion topics should include the review of materials put together by <br />members of the EDC and the Business Event Checklist created by staff. The EDC should determine <br />next steps, responsible parties, and associated milestones for the August meeting. <br /> <br />Background <br /> <br />The EDC has determined to plan for a business event to be held in 2025, with a proposed date of <br />October 22. At previous meetings, the EDC discussed the logistics for such an event as well as an <br />event topic. At the June EDC meeting, event logistics were tasked out to different members of the <br />EDC, with assignments as follows: <br /> <br />Event Agenda and Possible Speakers – Commissioner Bonine <br />Event Takeaways and Invitation – Commissioner Gronquist <br />Event Marketing and Outreach – Commissioner Poelzer <br /> <br />In advance of the July meeting, assigned commissioners shared updates with staff, which have <br />been included in the packet materials. (Attachments A-D). For discussion, staff has identified <br />questions that should be addressed by the EDC before moving forward with planning. <br /> <br />Staff has also put together a business event checklist (Attachment E) to keep track of event <br />logistics, responsible parties, and dates for the EDC to discuss and finalize logistics. <br /> <br />Discussion <br /> <br />For Event <br />- Confirm availability of date/time/location <br />- Establish event title <br />o Forum?
