Staff recommended a more flexible and diverse tree list
aligned with the "20-10-5 rule" to promote long-term canopy health. They also recommended
revising City Code 360.32 to remove specific tree species currently listed in the Right -of -Way
Permitted Tree Varieties (including invasive species) and replace the static list with a living
document —the Arden Hills Preferred Street Tree Species List —that can be regularly updated.
This change would codify the new list and remove the tree species currently in the ordinance.
Budget Impact
I0/_1
Attachment
Attachment A: Ordinance 2025-004 - Amending Rights of Way Permitted Tree Varieties (redlines)
Attachment B: Current Language and New Language (Ordinance 2025-004) - Rights of Way
Permitted Tree Varieties
