Until just three weeks ago, we were negotiating based on the <br /> initial business plan promoted by Metricom in which the company was <br /> operating as a wireless internet service provider that would be dealing <br /> one-on-one with individual customers. <br /> During a meeting three weeks ago, Metricom advised us that they have <br /> completely changed the business plan. They are no longer going to operate <br /> as an ISP, but instead will be operating solely as the access provider for <br /> the network. Resellers will be purchasing access from Metricom and selling <br /> it directly to customers. It is our understanding that Metricom will have <br /> no direct interaction whatsoever with customers. <br /> We have attempted to obtain information from Metricom with regard to exactly <br /> Oow they are going to be receiving revenue from resellers and whether they <br /> will have any subsidiaries and/or parent companies from whom they will be <br /> receiving revenues. However, Metricom has not been willing to provide us <br /> with any information. <br /> I have the following questions for the NATOA members: <br /> (1) Does anyone have information about what the relationship is between MCI <br /> Worldcom and Metricom? It is my understanding that MCI and Vulcan Ventures <br /> invested $300,000,000 in Metricom, but I can't find any specific information <br /> about that investment. <br /> (2) Has anyone seen or does anyone have a copy of the new business plan <br /> that Metricom is supposedly operating under?
