As I indicated in the survey, the City Council is
considering standardizing waste collection days for residential customers in Arden Hills.
Currently we have thirteen companies collecting waste in Arden Hills Monday through
Friday.
• The results of the survey are as follows:
• Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday Friday
Residential pick-ups 395 841 1082 295 785
Commercial pick-ups are also done daily and the City recognizes the need for this service
to continue as is.
Survey results indicate the highest number of residential pick-ups occur on Wednesday.
Wednesday is also the day Arden Hills recyclables are picked up. Therefore, it would make
sense to have Wednesday the Arden Hills pick-up day.
The City realizes this would involve major reorganizing of routes for several haulers which
could take a lot of time and effort. However, the City believes that limiting pick-up days
would be well worthwhile.
Considering all of this, and the fact that the City would like to try to implement a voluntary
change in pick-up days rather than change by an ordinance, I have the following questions
for the haulers:
1. Will your company support a voluntary change making Wednesday the only
residential pick-up day in Arden Hills? Yes No
• 2. Can this voluntary switch be made on or before January 1, 2000? Yes No
t
