-

.

Minutes of Special Council Meeting, May 19
Page 1

Mike Johnson said the Association was very interested in a long term solution,
felt there would not be a problem with future assessments for a permanent lift
station. It was noted that the engineer's calculations were based on the best
available hydrological data, location of a lift station would have to be
resolved. Since the public has access to the lake over Cummings Park property,
Karth.Lake is not truly a "private lake", The Homeowner's Association plans to
have a water quality study done at its expense and will pursue a long term
solution. It was suggested that a petition to install a lift station might be
appropriate.

.

Fire Protection Needs
In discussion, it was noted that we have to know what we need in manpower,
equipment and stations to meet fire protection needs for Arden Hills. Do
station, #1 in Arden Hills and station #2 in North Oaks provide this? Is
response time adequate? The Council concurred that a consultant's advice would
provide guidance.

Hicks moved, seconded by Sather, that McNiesh contact Orville Mertz and Bill
Quick to determine estimated cost and time needed to do a fire protection
evaluation and type of demographic data needed for the study. Motion carried
unanimously. (5-0)

It was noted that Shoreview had asked for a response by May 28 concerning Arden
Hills' interest in cooperating on a south station. Council queried whether we
could delay decision about four weeks pending consultant's report.

Impr. No. R-85-3 Hamline Avenue Phase II
Council concurred that a landscaping alternate be included in the plans and
specifications.

Claims and Payroll
Sather moved, seconded by Peck, that Claims and Payroll be approved as
submitted. Motion carried unanimously. (5-0)

Adiournment
Hansen moved, seconded by Peck, that
Motion carried unanimously.
