<br /> . ~ <br /> Minutes of Regular Council Meeting <br /> Village of Arden Hills <br /> Monday, December 3, 1984 <br /> Page Six <br /> Timm, Public Safety Committee chairman, said there are exceptions <br /> to all rules; noted that 950ut of 96 residents is pretty good <br /> evidence that the intersections are dark; noted that Committee <br /> members reported they could not find the streets. Timm said he . <br /> cannot see, for a cost of $100/year, why the City does not install <br /> these lights; said he supports the installation of these lights. <br /> It was noted that only 4 members of the 7 member Committee were <br /> present at the meeting, and only 3 of the 4 favored the installation. ~ <br /> It was suggested that the Resolution be referred to the Committee <br /> for its review, and possible amendment recommendations, for Council's <br /> consideration. <br /> Mr. Perry Lippert said he met with the Committee; explained that . <br /> this is not an ordinary set of circumstances - <br /> - Lexington is a busy street <br /> - there are two residential streets accessing onto Lexington <br /> - intersections are very dark <br /> Lippert said he talked to the Shoreview Council and they requested <br /> the lighting of these intersections by Arden Hills for the safety <br /> of Shoreview residents. <br /> After discussion, Council concurred to pursue a traffic count in <br /> this area prior to the Dec. 17th Council meeting, and to obtain <br /> cost estimate for the light installations. (McNiesh to contact <br /> SEH relative to counter availability.) . <br /> It was suggested by Mulcahy that a traffic count on Sandeen Road, <br /> at Presbyterian Homes, be conducted, after the count at Lexington/ <br /> Amble Drive and Lexington/Pleasant Circle. <br /> OTHER 8USINESS <br /> Ham1ine Avenue/Hi6hwa~ 96 Intersection - Status of Right-turn <br /> lane recommended * t e Pub'ic Safety Committee <br /> McNiesh reported t at Engineer Christoffersen has been requested <br /> to estimate cost of the proposed ~ight-turn lane; reported that <br /> there is apparently no iike1ihood it can be constructed this season. <br /> Third Fire Station - Status Report <br /> Council was referred to Hansen's memo of 11/29/84 and to Minutes <br /> of the Joint Fire 80ard Meeting of 10/16/84. . <br /> It was the general consensus of Council that the City continue to <br /> support the 3rd station, and current plan with firemen earning . <br /> equity @ 5% - 7%, a year. <br /> REPORT OF CLERK ADMINISTRATOR CHARLOTTE MCNIESH . <br /> ~ro11s and Claims <br /> u cahy moved, seconded by Rauenhorst, that Council approve the (4-0) <br /> Payrolls and Claims, as submitted.
