Motion
carried unanimously. (4-0)

Business from the Floor
. None

Cable TV - Complaint re Over~ad Cable Lines, 1605 Lake Johanna
Blvd.
Jim Daniels, General Manager of Group W Cable, distributed
copies of a "design map" to members of the Council, to show the
distribution lines in the area of 1605 Lake Johanna Blvd.

Daniels noted that costs are based on cable footage; policy is
to build in existing r.o.w., which is exactly the way the line
does go. Daniels noted that there is always a way around a
problem, but this would involve more costs for additional labor
and material; also the line would be outside the easement.
Daniels explained that an additional amplifier would also be
needed.

In discussion, it was queried whether the lines could be raised.
Daniels said that the cable lines must maintain a certain
distance below the power and telephone. It was queried whether
all lines could be raised. Daniels said this is a possibility;
will give I' - 1~' to Group W; not sure this would solve the
p ro b 1 em .

Mr. Taylor, 1605 Lake Johanna Blvd., suggested that a
significantly taller pole may resolve the problem; does not be-
lieve I' - 1~' will alleviate the problem. Daniels noted that
a taller pole will be "very expensive" - probably several
thousand dollars; noted that the expenses would have to be
covered, whatever we do.

.

Mr. Taylor said he realizes that legally, nothing can be done,
but feels there are places where adjustments can be made; feels
it would be in the spirit of the law to do it right; suggested
that burying the line may be the least expensive; feels this
could be done on an individual basis, as problems occur. Daniels
said this is not impossible, but would require some contribution
by the homeowner; suggested something could possibly be worked
out with the City re a re-build; noted it is fairly expensive to
do it.

William Bauer stated that another alternative would be to have
the power line buried; then the cable line will be buried free;
contract is that the cable will follow the power lines.

Daniels agreed to provide estimated costs to sufficiently raise
pole and to bury cable at the next regular Council meeting.
