Emergency Operations Plan <br /> Standine: Operatine: Procedure Emergency Public Information <br /> Purposc <br /> The purpose of this SOP is to establish a plan for the orderly dissemination of necessary information to <br /> the public, in a timcly manner, during emergency or post emergency operations. <br /> Direction <br /> All releases to the media will be made through the Public Information Office (PIO). The Mayor or City <br /> Administrator (or their designee) are the only officials authorized to perform this role. <br /> Method <br /> During an emergency: <br /> 1. Evaluate the scope of emergency and appropriate PIO response. <br /> 2. Establish media briefing room and time schedule for releases/updates. <br />. . If the scale of the emergency warrants, the Sheriffs Department office at 655 W. County Road E <br /> will be uscd. <br /> · Smaller emergencies will be addressed through the City Administrator's office and City Hall <br /> conference rooms. <br /> . In all cases, the public will access information through and from the City Administrator's Office. <br /> 3. Inform media ofPIO plan, location, and schedules. <br /> 4. Meet with Operations Team leaders (or their designees) to assess content of information release and <br /> current incidcnt status. <br /> 5. Open Public Information Center to media and public. <br /> 6. Release prepared message to the media and leaders of all city, state, volunteer, etc., service groups. <br />. <br /> 18 <br />
