I City Council Members 1450 West Highway 96 Arden Hills, MN 55112-5794 I Dear Council Members, Thank you for hosting the street improvement informational I meeting on January 9th. I am pleased with the planned improvement of North Pascal Avenue and as a resident would like to address the following concerns. I North Pascal Avenue is a dead end street that serves six homes of which my property, 3632 Pascal, is at the end of the street. The street is only 24 feet from my door step which leaves me an unusually narrow setback and a I small front yard. Across the street from me, at 3631 Pascal, the Brunette's home is only setback 21 feet from the street. Pascal Avenue is approximately 21 feet ~ wide between our two homes. My concern is that Pascal Avenue not be widened. I feel my property value will go down if I have anymore street in my front yard. I Another concern I have is the suddenness of expecting me to pay for a new street. The cost could be over $5,000! I live on a budget and plan my expenditures years in advance, I don't prefer to finance cars, home I improvements, vacations, and other big budget items. When you finance, you pay extra (governments need to learn this and that is what the headlines read everyday)! The City of Arden Hills has an excellent system of identifying which I streets need repair and can project into the future the maintenance and costs of these improvements. I think the citizens should be informed of projected assessments at least three years in advance. I appeal to the City Council that I for the sake of families living within their means -- North Pascal Avenue be repaired three years from now. It will cost us all less.
