I
I CITY OF ARDEN HILLS
f' MEMORANDUM
DATE: February 23, 1996
I TO: Brian Fritsinger, City Administrator 0)0
I FROM: Cindy S. Walsh, Parks & Recreation Director
I SUBJECT: Parks Equipment Purchases
1. Wood Chio{ler
. The 1996 budget includes the purchase of a brush chipper for $21,000. I have received three
bids:
I Model Price
Vermeer Model #1230 $19,000
Vermeer Model #1250 $20,555
. (including extendable tongue and swivel feed)
Linding Model #QH40 $22,730
Ie Recommendation
Staff recommends purchasing the Vermeer Model #1230 brush chipper for $19,000. It is not
I necessary to have the extendable tongue and swivel feed.
2. 3/4 Ton 4 x 4 Pickuo
I The 1996 budget includes the purchase of a 3/4 ton 4 x 4 pickup for $21,500. The low bid
from Superior Ford reflects the price from the Hennepin County Contract. Staff has concerns
with ordering contract vehicles since it took nine months to receive the 1995 one-ton pickup
I that was ordered under contract. The bid prices are as follows:
Dealer Estimated Delivery Time Price
I Superior Ford 5 Months $19,550
Minor Ford 3-4 Months $19,930
Rosedale Chev 3-4 Months $20,110
I Boyer Ford 3-4 Months $20,925
I All Ford pickups would have to be painted tan. The estimated painting cost from Maaco is
$550-$600.
I Chevrolet does make a tan pickup. However, they will not guarantee a delivery date because
the order is not placed until the dealer receives five requests for tan pickups.
~
I
