", ".. ~. <br /> . t'tP""t <br />I ARDEN HI! .LS CITY COUNCIL - MAY 28. 1996 11 <br />I' Mr. Ringwald state~ the Planning Commission recommended approval of the amendment to <br />I the Master Plan with the following conditions: <br /> 1. Modification of the parking lot design by eliminating the western most parking space <br />I on the southern row of parking; and <br /> 2. Provision of the parking spaces consistent with Exhibit A, page 1 of 1, as attached to <br />I Mr. Ringwald's May 8,1996, supplemental memorandum. <br /> Mr. Ringwald noted that several members of the Planning Commission were displeased with <br />I Bethel College for choosing to amend their Master Plan and not update it. He stated this <br /> displeasure prompted the Planning Commission to unanimously forward the following <br /> resolution for the City Council's consideration: <br />I WHEREAS, the original Master Plan for Bethel College was generated in 1978; and <br />I WHEREAS, several amendments to the Master Plan have been requested by Bethel <br /> College in the immediate past; and <br />.. WHEREAS, as previously stated to the City of Arden Hills Planning Commission by <br /> Bethel College, the student population has significantly changed since the original <br />I Master Plan was generated; <br /> NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that all future proposals will be reviewed <br />I in strict conformance with the Master Plan and the City should strongly encourage <br /> Bethel College to update its Master Plan. <br />I Mr. Craig Hjelle, Bethel College, stated the college recognizes the need to update its Master <br /> Plan, and will begin doing so this summer. He stated they need more definition of how the <br /> Master Plan conforms to the Special Use Permit (SUP), and want to serve the students in the <br />I best way possible. <br /> Mr. Hjelle stated the college has seen a significant shift in the number of vehicles that are <br />I parking on campus in the last several years, therefore the need for the amendment to increase <br /> the parking spaces. He stated the college will likely have to restrict cars on campus at some <br />I point. He also stated he was unable to attend the Planning Commission meeting due to the <br /> date change of that meeting by the Planning Commission and would have been able to address <br /> the Commission's concerns at that time had he attended. <br />I MOTION: Malone moved and Keirn seconded a motion to approve Planning Case #96.04, <br />~ Bethel College Site Plan Review and SUP, based on the conditions outlined by <br /> the Planning Commission. The motion carried unanimously (5-0). <br />I <br />
