<br />~ . <br />- <br /> STATE OF MINNESOTA <br />~ COUNTY OF RAMSEY <br /> CITY OF ARDEN HILLS <br /> RESOLUTION NO, 96-48 <br />I A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING <br /> COOPERATIVE LIVABLE CITIES DEMONSTRATION GRANT APPLICATION <br /> TO METROPOLITAN COUNCIL <br />I FOR I-35W CORRIDOR COALITION PLANNING ACTIVITIES <br /> WHEREAS, me Cities of Arden Hills, Blaine, Minneapolis, Mounds View, New Brighton, <br />I Roseville, and Shoreview (I-35W Coalition Cities) directly border the Northern Metro Section of <br /> Interstate 35W (I-35W Corridor); and <br />I WHEREAS, the City of Arden Hills is a participant in the Livable Communities Act's Housing <br /> Incentive Program for 1996 as determined by the Metropolitan Council, and is therefore eligible <br /> to make application for funds under the Livable Communities Demonstration Account; and <br />I WHEREAS, me I-35W Coalition Cities have commenced a collaborative effort to discuss, <br />I identify and address macro economic development, housing, transportation, contaminated lands, <br /> employee training needs, and other physical land use and community planning issues along me <br /> entire 1-3 5W corridor; and <br />Ie WHEREAS, the 1-35W Coalition Cities intend to utilize this information to guide and support <br /> the development of essential transportation and infrastructure improvements along the I-35W <br />I corridor, as well as to assist in determining appropriate mass transit policies, and for assisting to <br /> develop a coordinated/collaborative database and GIS system, compatible with metropolitan GIS <br /> system decisions; and <br />I WHEREAS, me I-35W Coalition Cities desire to utilize this strategic alliance to assist in <br /> marketing and guiding development along the I-35W Corridor, consistent with the intent of the <br />I Metropolitan Livable Communities Act and Metropolitan Council's Regional Blueprint and <br /> individual community land use plans; and <br />I WHEREAS, all ofthe I-35W Coalition Cities approved resolutions earlier this year supporting <br /> the intent behind the Coalition's efforts and each Cities' participation within it; and <br />I WHEREAS, the I-35W Coalition Cities have been meeting for several months in developing <br /> this collaborative effort and are in the process of preparing and intend to enter into a fonnal joint <br />I "'~" .g==n< wi<hi. <h, """ ~,~. mo""" '0< <h, _o~ of _io, on< <h, goo" Md <br /> objectives of this collaborative effort, including the designation of a fiscal agent; and <br />I WHEREAS, the infonnation collected and analyzed through the efforts ofthe I-35W Coalition <br /> will be critical to the discussion and policy decisions associated with the current metropolitan <br />I' area growth options; and <br />-I <br />
