The purpose of this meeting accomplished several things,
including a review of the past year, goals for the new year, and communication of expectations.
I During 1996, the City Council has had numerous discussions on the effectiveness of its
Committees. On several occasions, the Council has debated the "Task Force" approach to
resolve community issues.
I Role of Committees
Ie Attached is a description of, and explanation of the purpose of, each committee. The City
currently has six (6) committees and two (2) commissions.
I Committees Commissions
Economic Development Planning
Finance Economic Development Authority
I Human Rights
Newsletter/Communications
Parks and Recreation
I Public Safety/Works
Community Involvement
I The City has seen membership in its committees decline in recent years. Each year, it has
become increasingly difficult to recruit members for these committees.
I What Community Projects or Issues Exist?
There are a number of projects which have not been effectively resolved by the current
I committees. There are also several other projects for which a Task Force may be the most
appropriate method to review a particular issue.
I
fI
I
