Motion carried
unanimously. (5-0)

CASE #89-20; SUP
SATELLITE DISH
ANTENNA, 4444 ROUND
LAKE RD, GRAINGERS

Council was referred to the Planner's report and Planning
Commission minutes dated 1-3-90, relative to the request
for a Special Use Permit to allow a satellite dish
antenna at 4444 Round Lake Road West, W.W. Graingers.

Planner Bergly explained the original request by the applicant was for placement
of the dish antenna on the wall of the building, extending beyond the roof and
two ground-mounted locations were discussed with the applicant. Bergly displayed
a diagram indicating the three possible locations. The Planner and Planning
Commission members recommend the antenna be located at the bottom of the slope,
as shown on the diagram displayed. He explained the basis for locating the dish
at the bottom of the slope was to provide natural screening by the slope and with
landscaping; this location and method of screening would add an amenity to the
site rather than an "artificial" type of screening if mounted on the wall of the
building.

.

Bergly stated Commission recommended approval of the SUP, at the bottom of the
slope, should be conditioned upon the applicant providing detailed plans for
installation of the antenna and screening by landscaping, such plans to be
approved by the Planner.

There was discussion relative to possible interference from the existing
transmission tower and if adequate reception could be achieved with a smaller
dish antenna.

Planner Bergly stated a representative from the installation company has viewed
the site and did not express concern relative to the lower slope location;
Councilmember Malone briefly explained why a larger dish may be necessary.

Malone moved, seconded by Growe, that Council approve
Case #89-20, a Special Use Permit to allow a six-foot satellite dish antenna at
4444 Round Lake Road West, W.W. Graingers, to be installed at the ground location
to the south of the building and shown on the Planner's diagram, contingent upon
the applicant submission of detailed plans for installation and landscaping for
screening purposes subject to approval by the City Planner. Motion carried
unanimously. (5-0)

COUNCIL COMMENTS
MISC; ABSENCE

Councilmember Growe advised she would be absent from the
January 29 and February 12 Council meetings.

.

HUMAN RIGHTS MTG.
DESIGNATED DATE

Councilmember Growe noted there was no designated date
for the January Human Rights Meeting; reported a meeting
was tentatively scheduled for January 17.

Clerk Administrator Berger advised he would check on the date.
