<br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />COUNTY OF RAMSEY <br /> <br />CITY OF ARDEN HILLS <br /> <br />RESOLUT I ON NO 1& -,,;(~ <br /> <br />RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING <br />AFFIRMATIVE ACTION POLICY <br />STATEr~ENT <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Counci I of Arden HI lis believes that <br />equal employment opportunity should be available to all persons <br />regardless of race, creed, rei igion, color, sex, national origin, <br />disabi I ity, marital status, status with regard to public assis- <br />tance, or age, and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Arden Hills is itself an employer of <br />approximately twenty persons on a regular full time basis, as <br />well as others on a seasonal, part time basis, and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Council of Arden HII Is believes that <br />the interests of the City and its citizens are best served by <br />the City employing persons based on their qualifications for the <br />job, and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Counci I of Arden Hi lis recognizes that mere <br />good intent and lack of overt discriminating practices does not <br />assure equal opportunity in employment, <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of <br />Arden Hills declares that It Is the polley of the City of Arden <br />Hills to provide equal employment opportunities to all persons <br />regardless of race" creed, religion, c%r, sex, national origin, <br />dlsabi I ity, marital status, status with regard to publ ic assis- <br />tance, or age, and <br /> <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Council of Arden <br />HI I Is hereby directs the Clerk Administrator, with the assistance <br />of the City Human Rights Commission, to prepare a proposed <br />Affirmative Action Program for the City of Arden Hills as an employer <br />which wi I I foster truly equal employment opportunities whi Ie <br />preserving the value of the merit system. <br /> <br />BE /T FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Council of Arden <br />Hills urges all employers in the City of Arden Hills to develop <br />and pursue their own Affirmative Action Program. <br /> <br />Passed by <br /> <br />~ <br /> <br />the Arden Hil Is Council this <br /> <br />f;zL <br /> <br />day of <br /> <br />, 1916. <br /> <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Attest: <br /> <br />~~ <br /> <br />Charlotte McNlesh <br />Clerk Administrator <br />
