<br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />~ <br />~~HILLS <br /> <br />CITY OF ARDEN HILLS <br />COUNTY OF RAMSEY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 06-34 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION APPROVING THE USE OF THE AUTOMARK VOTING <br />MACHINES FOR FUTURE ELECTIONS <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Congress enacted the Help America Vote Act (HAVA) in <br />2002 to ensure that the voting method utilized in every polling place includes a <br />ballot marking device that is accessible for individuals with disabilities and <br />provides them the ability to vote privately and independently; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Ramsey County Board of Commissioners has adopted <br />the local equipment plan developed by the cities and school districts in the <br />County to acquire and operate a ballot marking device that is accessible to <br />persons with disabilities; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Ramsey County has received a state grant in the amount of <br />$1,256,572 to acquire and operate such a ballot marking device for disabled <br />voters; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Minnesota secretary of state has certified the Automark <br />ballot marking device for use in this state; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Ramsey County auditor has authorized the use of the <br />Automark ballot marking device in all elections in Ramsey County; <br /> <br />THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the City of Arden Hills authorizes <br />the use of the Automark ballot marking device for all elections held in the City of <br />Arden Hills in accordance with applicable state and federal laws; and <br /> <br />THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the operation and maintenance of <br />the Automark ballot marking device be conducted in the same manner provided <br />for voting systems in the joint powers agreement between the City of Arden Hills <br />and the County adopted by the Ramsey County Board of Commissioners on April <br />24,2001; and <br />
