. Page 2 of3 333.11 Sign Standard Adjustments Adjustments to the sign requirements may be approved through the Site Plan Review process if certain criteria are met. An adjustment to the City's Sign Ordinance is justified in this case based upon the criteria outlined in this section, as follows: A. There are site conditions which require a sign adjustment to allow the sign to be reasonable visible from a street immediately adjacent to the site. Ramsev County Response: The Public WorkslPartner Facility, the SherilTPatrol Station and the proposed Army National Guard Facility are set back several hundred feet from Hwy 96 making them difficult to identify from Hwy 96. Additionally, these facilities and the existing Army National Guard Facility are set back from the Hwy 96 and Hamline A venue intersection, making them equally difficult to identify from this intersection. The proposed location and size of the monwnent sign will allow visitors and vendors to more easily identify these facilities at they approach from either direction on Hwy 96 and/or from Hamline Avenue. B. The sign adjustment will allow a sign of exceptional design or a style that will . enhance the area or that is more consistent with architectural and design of the site. Ramsey County Response: The proposed monwnent sign is of exceptional design and quality materials. This sign has the potential to become the standard for design and materials for future commercial signage as the TCAAP site is developed in the future. The materials proposed in this sign mirror the Public Works/Partner Facility as well as the SherilTPatrol Station, and are a natural extension of the architecture of these structures. The proposed sign will enhance the area by providing immediate direction to visitors and vendors to the site, while blending in with the overall site conditions. C. The sign adjustment will not result in a sign that is inconsistent with the purpose of the zoning district in which the property is located Ramsev County Response: The area of the Public WorkslPartner Facility is zoned Civic Center. The proposed sign is intended a~ a well--designed, well-constructed, informational signage that is consistent with the intent of the Civic Center roning while compliments the surrounding area and structures. The proposed monument sign is tastefully designed, and will enhance the entire site with its high quality materials and its straightforward identification.
