<br />u_ <br /> STATE OF MINNESOTA . <br /> COUNTY OF RAMSEY <br /> CITY OF ARDEN HILLS <br /> ORDINANCE NO. 372 <br /> A MORATORmM RELATED TO THE PLACEMENT OF SIGNS <br />The Arden Hills City Council Ordains: <br />372.01 Recitals. <br /> A. The City of Arden Hills ("City") is in the process of reviewing its <br /> regulations regarding new permanent signs and temporary signs in the <br /> City. <br /> B. As used herein, "Sign" means any name, identification, description, <br /> display, logo, illustration or device which is affixed to, painted or <br /> rcpresented directly or indirectly upon a building or other surface or piece <br /> ofland, and which directs attention to an object, product, place, activity, <br /> person, institution, organization or business. <br /> C. The existing Sign Ordinance is incompatible with City goals and may <br /> allow undcsirable sign types and sizes, <br /> D. The City anticipates that there will be additional submittals for the . <br /> construction of new permanent signs in the City. <br /> E. In order to permit the City Council to review and evaluate changes to the <br /> City's current regulations and to preserve the integrity of the planning <br /> process, the Arden Hills City Council hereby determines that a sign <br /> moratorium for new permanent signs temporary is appropriate. <br />372.02 Exceptions. The City hereby adopts a sign moratorium applicable to the <br /> construction or installation of new signs in the City except for the following: <br /> A. Construction of signs in residential sign district 1 and district 2 (Figure 1) <br /> shall be allowed without a permit, provided that they are six squarc feet or <br /> less in size, are less than eight feet in height, maintain the structure <br /> setbacks of the underlying zone, and are not illuminated in any form. <br /> B. The sign face on an existing wall, freestanding, monument, or pole sign <br /> may be replaced with a sign permit provided that the new sign face does <br /> not excecd the dimensions of the sign face before the adoption of this <br /> Moratorium. <br /> C. Temporary signs may be permitted with a sign permit for a total of90 <br /> days per calcndar year or upon termination of the Moratorium, whichever <br /> is earlier, provided that the temporary sign does not require any new <br /> construction or structural modifications and is in accordance with the sign <br /> area, height, and lighting restrictions listed in Table 1. <br /> D. Off-site signs and billboards shall be prohibited in all sign districts in . <br /> Table 1. <br /> 1 <br />
