CITY OF ARDEN HILLS <br /> MEMORANDUM <br />I DATE: January 8, 1997 <br />I TO: Brian Fritsinger, City Administrator <br /> Terrance Post, City Accountant@ V'), <br />I FROM: <br /> Dwayne Stafford, Public Works Superintendent <br />I SUBJECT: Request to Increase Sweeper Purchase Cost <br /> Background <br />1 At the January 2,1997 Council meeting, Council approved the $85,411.94 ($80,199.00 net cost <br /> after trade-in, plus $5,212.94 sales tax) purchase of a new Elgin Pelican SE street sweeper. <br />I Requested Additional Options <br /> Prior to placing the order with MacQueen Equipment, Inc., additional options not on the State <br />I bid package were evaluated and are now being recommended as additional factory installed <br /> options. They include the following: <br />- I. Interior wiring and switches to accommodate cab mounted safety strobe lights. <br /> 2. A pre-filter system prior to the engine air cleaner to reduce maintenance costs. <br /> , An anti-syphon device to prevent backflow when hooked up to hydrants as <br /> J. <br />I mandated by State law. <br /> 4. A lower roller washout system to reduce maintenance costs. <br /> 5. Custom paint from "Pelican white" to Arden Hills beige (Dupont #6742). <br />1 The total additional cost for these options is $801.00, with the factory custom paint ($225.00) <br /> being particularly cost effective. <br />I Recommendation <br />I The Arden Hills City Council should consider, under the consent calendar at the January 13, <br /> 1997 regular Council meeting, approving the addition of $80 1.00 in factory options as part of the <br /> 1997 sweeper purchase capital item. <br />I This action would result in a revised total sweeper cost of $86,265.00 ($81,000.00 net cost after <br /> trade-in, plus $5,265.00 for Minnesota sales tax.) <br />I TRPlsls <br />I <br />~ <br />I <br /> .- <br />
