.
CITY OF ARDEN HILLS
-. MEMORANDUM
DATE: March 20, 1')')7
-
- TO: Mayor and City Council
I FROM: Brian Fritsinger, City Administrato@
SUBJECT: Committee Appointments
I Business Development Committee
I Attached, the City Council will find a copy of a letter from Kasandra Bergland, 1392 West
County Road E, expressing interest in serving on the Economic Development Committee.
. Mr. Ringwald has been in contact with Ms. Bergland to further discuss her interest in serving the
City. She has expressed a preference for serving on the Business Development Committee.
- At the most recent Business Development Committee meeting, Mr. Tom Goblirsch indicated his
- preference for serving on the Business Development Committee rather than the Business
J Relations Committee.
I. Human Ri!!:hts Committee
. I have also done some additional research regarding the situation related to Sushila Shah
representing the City as part of the League of Minnesota Human Rights Commissions. The City
Council did not formally eliminate this committee. The City simply put the reappointment "on
I hold." Section 3.06 of the By-Laws for the League states that "membership in the League shall
be terminated if the CountylMunicipal Commission ceases to exist......"
I It is my opinion that because our committee has not been technically terminated, the City may
continue to be members. I have discussed this further with Sushila, who indicated she would be
willing to continue to serve as the City's liaison to this organization.
I Requested Action
The City Council may wish to appoint Ms. Bergland to the Business Development Committee,
I and Mr. Goblirsch to the Business Development Committee.
BF/sls
.
I
f'
I
