Resolution #97-21, Accepting Bid and Authorizing Execution of Contract in the <br />.- Matter of the 1997 Strcet Improvcmcnt Projcct <br /> Dwayne Stafford, Public Works Superintendent, requested City Council adopt Resolution #97- <br />1 21, accepting the bid and authorizing the execution of the contract in the matter of the 1997 street <br /> improvements. <br />1 Mr. Stafford stated the bid has been awarded to Valley Paving, Inc. He stated they had done <br /> satisfactory work for the City in the past. <br />. Mr. Greg Stonehouse, MSA Consulting Engineers, stated the bid was for $384,000, which also <br /> included three portions of the trail segment, and the slurry seal of North Snelling Avenue. <br />1 Mayor Probst inquired if the bid also included the sanitary sewer work for Hamline Avenue. Mr. <br /> Stonehouse replied that work had been included in the bid. <br />1 Councilmember Keim inquired if the trail coatings were to be pea gravel, and stated her concems <br /> for use of this coating material. Mr. Stonehouse replied the trails would not be coated with pea <br /> gravel, but with a more finely-ground coating. <br />1 Cindy Walsh, Parks and Recreation Director, commented that the City may not be able to <br />.. accomplish all of the trail sealcoating this year, due to the increased cost of the slurry coat. Mr. <br /> Stonehouse stated it may be possible that all three portions could be completed. <br />I Mr. Fritsinger commented there were still two days remaining for the 30-day appeal process for <br /> 1997 street improvement assessments, He stated one formal appeal had been received by the <br /> City as of to day's meeting. <br />1 MOTION: Malone moved and Hicks seconded a motion to adopt Resolution #97-21, <br /> accepting the bid and authorizing the execution of the contract in the matter of the <br />1 1997 street improvement project. <br /> ADMINISTRATOR COMMENTS <br />I Mr. Fritsinger stated he would be meeting individually with those architects scheduled for <br /> interviews with Councilmembers as potential architects for the proposed new City Hall, and if <br />I needed, offered to provide duplicates of the formal RFP's previously received from each firm. <br />1 COUNCIL COMMENTS <br /> Mayor Probst stated the Ramsey County Parks & Recreation Department had begun planning for <br />1 the redevelopment of Tony Schmidt Park. <br />f' <br />1 <br />
