Backing shall be avoided unless absolutely necessary. <br /> b. Backing shall be done only after driver has made certain his vehicle has I <br /> adequate clearance on all sides. <br /> c. Backing shall be done very slowly and with extreme caution. . <br /> d. Both sides shall be observed during backing operations and all vehicles I <br /> must have right hand mirrors. <br /> e. Where possible, backing shall be done with the use of a signal person. I <br /> f. Back up alarms shall be on all trucks, and in working order. <br /> E. Personal Protective Equipment and Clothing I <br /> I. General . <br /> a. Proper personal protective equipment shall be provided, and maintained in <br /> a sanitary and reliable condition. -- <br /> b. Protective equipment shall be used when there is a hazard from the <br /> working environment that may cause injury or illness. I <br /> c. Supervisors shall be responsible for enforcing rules regarding wearing of <br /> protective equipment. I <br /> 2. Eye and Face Protection I <br /> Any employee assigned to a task involving likelihood of eye or face injury shall <br /> wear proper protection. This includes, but is not limited to the following: I <br /> a. Operating grinders, <br /> b. Handling open muriatic acid containers, I <br /> c. Changing mercury vapor lights, <br /> d. Using air compressor, <br /> e. Using paint striper, I <br /> f. Operating tree chipper, <br /> g. Digging holes involving concrete and asphalt, I <br /> h. Pounding open manhole cover seals, operating jack hammers, cutting with <br /> chisels, using power saws and lathes or any equipment involving danger of <br /> flying particles, .. <br /> II <br /> I <br />
