<br /> I <br /> Public Works Department I <br /> The Public Works maintenance person has completely rebuilt the backhoe boom on the City's <br /> tractor backhoe, installing all new pins and bushings at swivel points. -. <br /> Maintenance workers installed an antenna on top of the North Water Tower which will transmit <br /> an alarm to a receiver at the booster station, if doors are opened without security code. Electro <br /> Watchman personnel, who were installing the alarm system were not comfortable working at I <br /> these heights. <br /> Weeds around all City hydrants were cut and a five (5) feet swath on the Highway 51 side of I <br /> North Hamline A venue was brushed and cleared where bushes were growing out into the <br /> roadway, This is the segment which was cut from the reconstruction plan this spring. I <br /> Sod work from plow damage and some boulevards where settling had occurred were sodded this <br /> month. I <br /> Several hydrants were raised to match surrounding elevations and some were also painted by <br /> City workers, I <br /> Root cutting was completed on sewer lines where televising showed problems, and a repon with <br /> recommendations on other repairs should be following soon from MSAlHoward R Green, I <br /> Graffitti near the high school was cleaned-up several times, at a cost to the City of$l,OOO to <br /> $1,500. " <br /> Demonstrations will be given by the two (2) finalists on water meters, Tuesday, June 24 and <br /> Wednesday, June 25, The Public Works Superintendent has asked each vendor to provide the I <br /> eity with a cut-away model of a two (2) or three (3) inch meter, plus a meter of that size the crew <br /> can take apart and examine. I <br /> Further tests on each model will be held on radio read capabilities at actual facilities to be <br /> converted, I <br /> The trim on the Public Works building was painted by one of the part-time helpers, <br /> 1997 Street Projects I <br /> Colleen Avenue, Colleen Circle, and James Avenue all have the sub-cut done now, and curb <br /> work is completed.
