August 4, 1997 <br />I TO: Arden Hills Planning Commission <br /> Arden Hills City Council <br />I FROM: Gerald Sievers <br /> 3224 Lake Lane <br /> Arden Hills, Minnesota <br />I Dear Sir/Ms: . <br />I I am requesting a Variance for the construction of a 12' X 26' <br /> garage/storage addition to my existing 22' X 26' 2 stall garage. <br /> With the addition it would not meet City code for allowable square <br /> footage. The total square feet for the existing garage including <br />I the proposed addition is 884 square feet, which is 156 square feet <br /> over the 728 square feet allowed. I also am requesting a Set Back <br /> Variance from the front yard (see Item C below). <br />I A) EXisting North wall and steps are going to have to be removed <br /> and rebuilt due to increased pressure from recent rains. As <br /> you can see from the photos it is at a serious point where <br />.. something needs to be done immediately. <br /> B) I want to get all the outside storage of material inside to <br />I clean up the area around the garage/storage. I have no place <br /> to store anything and this would enable me to accomplish this. <br /> C) The Set Back Variance request is from 40' to 5' . I am not <br />I planning on going any closer to the West or South property <br /> line than the existing garage already is. The garage has been <br /> there for over 50 years. <br />I My house is on a dead end street of two houses and I have a signed <br /> petition by all neighbors which are bordering my property, which <br />I none have any problem with the size or design and would welcome the <br /> clean up. <br /> If the Planning Commission and Council will grant the Variance <br />I requested it would be greatly appreciated for myself and the <br /> neighborhood. <br />I V~~ <br />I Gerald Sievers <br /> Property Owner <br />tt City of Arden Hills <br />I <br />
