.~'
I
929 Fifth Avenue NW Ste.500 -I
New Brighton, MN 55112 RECEIVED
Voicemai/: 486-2881 ext. 201
SEP 1 0 1997 I
CITY Of i.~UtN HILLS I
September 8, 1997
Greetings! I
On September 30, 1997, the mayors of all communities within the MoundsView ISD No. 621, as well as the I
Chairman of the MoundsView ISD No. 621 School Board are hosting a Community SUMMIT FOCUSING ON
HEALTHY YOUTH. The purpose of this Summit is to call attention to the need to focus on developing assets in our
youth and supporting programs relating to youth throughout our broader community. The program will focus on I
the Search Institute Survey administered in the MoundsView School District a couple of years ago. Michael
Johnson, a Search Institute speaker, will provide a keynote address, as will Superintendent Jan Witthuhn and a
representative of the Healthy Youth Coalition. The Summit will be held at the New Brighton Family Service I
Center beginning at 7:00 p.m. We would like to invite your organization to participate in this event by joining our "Exhibit Hall" that will I
consist of organizations supporting youth-related activities. Having your involvement would provide a wonderful e
opportunity for you to demonstrate how your organization supports the youth ofthe community. The Exhibit Hall
will be in the main foyer of the Family Service Center and would be open 6:30 p.m. - 10:00 p.m. There is no cost I
to participate in this event, although a donation in an amount you feel is appropriate would be appreciated in order
to help cover the costs associated with putting on this healthy youth.summit.
- ,
If you are interested in having your organization represented at the Exhibit Hall, I would appreciate you calling us I
to indicate your interest and to identify specific exhibit needs. Please contact Pat Lindquist at 638-2042 by Friday,
September 26th. We would really welcome your involvement in this Healthy Youth Summit. I
I would also suggest you review the attached letter from Pastor Tim Thompson, President of the Healthy Youth
Coalition and consider making a commitment to promoting the development of "assets in our youth" and I
supporting the "Asset a Month" public education campaign in 1998.
We all have an opportunity to make this a major focus of our organizational efforts. I hope you will join us in I
keeping this topic at the forefront next year.
Sincerely,
W/f11L I
Matt Fulton
City Manager I
..
Q,ICORRESPIMFI YOtm!llNV-EXH.5UM --
I
