oP ~-
Administrator Comments for the 9/29/97 Council Meeting -
Page Four -
September 26, 1997 -.
e. Personnel
1. Sexual Harassment Trainin~ I
I helped organize mandated Sexual Harassment Training for all City
employees. This training was held on September 24, and included the .
Cities of Arden Hills, Lino Lakes, Roseville, Shoreview, and Vadnais
Heights.
2. Terry Post. City Accountant .
Terry has been released from the hospital. I have begun some
investigation into a review of our sick leave and long-term disability I
benefits, and may have future recommendations related to changes in these
areas.
3. Union Ne~otiations I
I began the bargaining process with the Local LO.U.E. No. 49. I'm
confident that negotiations will not be as strained as in past years. .
4. Personnel Policy
Staff began its review of the Personnel Policy, and provided eI
recommendations to Labor Relations Associates, who are completing the
process. Review with City Council will most likely take place in October.
f. Public Works/Safety I
1. Meeting with Mounds View School Staff/Students .
The City attended and participated in a meeting with the School District
and students to discuss the ongoing vandalism and graffiti problems. The .
result of this is another meeting with District representatives and students
on October I, and an additional neighborhood meeting being planned for
October 8. .
2. Request for Proposals (RFP)
Staff solicited proposals for City Consulting Engineer services, and .
participated in interviews with four firms.
3. Tobacco Compliance .
Staff investigated the requirements for conducting compliance checks
required by new state statutes. It appears that most, if not all, of the
contract cities will be working with the North Suburban Tobacco .
Compliance Project on compliance issues. Staffwill be recommending an
increase in tobacco license fees for 1998 to off-set the increased cost of ..
compliance.
.
.'
