I 5(/
I
.,. . NORTH HEIGHTS LUTHERAN CHURCH
PHASE ONE
I In 1986 North Heights Lutheran Church completed its first facility on its Arden Hills
Campus comprising of approximately 67,000 square feet. The building materials
I consisted of brick and stucco exterior walls with a copper colored metal mansard-type
roof. The primary use of this facility was to house a 1500 seat sanctuary, classrooms and
an office area surrounding the sanctuary area.
I PHASE TWO
I In June, 1997 construction of the second phase began on the North Heights Lutheran
Church, known as the Family Life Center. It comprises approximately 96,000 square feet,
and the building materials consist primarily of brick with the exception of the southern
I end of the building known as the Activity Center. The walls of the Activity Center consist
of architecturally designed precast concrete with reveals of brick that tie into the brick
walls of the remaining Family Life Center. Portions of the roofbave copper colored
I metal to match the existing building identified as Phase One.
PHASE THREE
Ie Although there is no timetable for construction of the sanctuary extension, preliminary
sketches have been drafted of a floor plan and an elevation plan. Copies of those sketches
I are attached. The purpose for Phase Three is to extend the balcony portion of the
sanctuary outward in a northeasterly direction. This new expansion will accommodate
2,500 additional seats. Below the balcony area, there will be administration and pastoral
I offices, an enlarged narthex area, and additional classrooms. At this time, the design
includes exterior walls of matching brick with metal arched frames holding large panes of
glass. The roof will consist ofa similar mansard type roofusing the same copper colored
I metal.
Again, it is to be understood that no final plans for layout, design or use of materials have
been decided upon. The present leadership, however, has no plans to consider building
I materials other that those specified in the abovementioned paragraph.
I
I
I
.. a:\nQrmheights\fundin!l\phasd
I
