He stated there were comments at both the <br /> Planning Commission meeting and Council meeting that, perhaps, the Church did not represent <br /> things correctly. He stated his frustration that it is diffieult to express. <br /> I Mayor Probst stated he believes he asked this question and someone responded that it would be <br /> all brick. He noted the meeting minutes are not all verbatim but he believes he asked this <br /> I question. Mayor Probst stated he called City Hall for confirmation when he drove by the site and <br /> noted the precast panels, not brick. <br /> I Council member Aplikowski stated she was not on the Council when this first came up and when <br /> determining an issue like this she likes to step back and look at what is now. not what was. She <br /> I stated she does not share the same feeling about "all brick" mediums and believes several <br /> materials can be just a pleasing. She stated she is willing to accept the proposal as is and does <br /> not believe precast results in more maintenance than other surfaces. She stated she would hate <br /> I this issue to result in a division between the Church and City and hopes an agreement can be <br /> reached. Councilmember Aplikowski stated she supports the new proposal if the Church is <br /> willing to follow through on it. She stated, perhaps, the questions were not timely enough, words <br /> I clear enough, or presentation correct. Councilmember Aplikowski stated she can make this <br /> compromise and live with the revised proposaL <br /> Ie Mr. Logelin stated he just wanted to state their opinion, as the Council had requested they do. <br /> He stated he is willing to present the revised plan to their elders and does not want this to result <br /> in a fractured relationship. Mr. Logelin stated they will also take a closer look at their plans and <br /> I reiterated they did not do anything intentionaL <br /> I Councilmember Malone asked what happens if the Church does not approve the revised <br /> proposaL He stated he does not know if the Council can approve of the revised plan if the <br /> Church does not want to approve it. <br /> I Mr. Rickenbach asked the Senior Pastor if he is willing to support the revised plan. Mr. <br /> Vaageness stated he wilL Mr. Rickenbach stated he just wanted to present his opinion in a public <br /> I forum. <br /> Councilmember Malone noted that NHLC is working with one of the biggest builders in the <br /> I metro area and if the Church did not know, the contractor should have known. Councilmember <br /> Malone expressed reluctance to consider approval if it is not known whether the Church will <br /> approve the revised plan. <br /> I Councilmember Keirn stated she believes that NHLC has the best of intentions and, even with <br /> the architect, maybe he should have known differently but there was a lack of communication. <br /> I Council member Keirn stated she does not believe NHLC is intending to misrepresent anything <br /> and they must work under a council just as the City does. <br /> ~ MOTION: Keirn moved and Aplikowski seconded a motion to approve the PUD amendment <br /> based on the elevation presented on Exhibit A-I dated November 4, 1997. <br /> I <br />
