<br /> . ~ <br /> ~~HILLS <br /> MEMORANDUM <br /> DATE: June 30, 2006 PC Agenda Item 4.A <br /> TO: Planning Commission <br /> FROM: James Lehnhoff, City Planner <br /> SUBJECT: Sign Code <br /> At the June 26th, 2006, meeting, the City Council unanimously voted to approve the new Sign <br /> Code. The new code will be published on July 5th, 2006, and go into effect on July 6th, 2006. <br /> Thc Sign Code will become Chapter 12 in the City Code of Ordinances. The sign moratorium <br /> will1ift once the new code goes into effect. <br /> Sign Ordinance -7 Side Code <br /> . As noted above, the new sign regulations will be part of the City Code. While the City Council <br /> did not include a provision to require a public hearing for all changes to the sign regulations, they <br /> did reserve the right to call a public hearing as deemed necessary. <br /> Please note that any variations from the sign regulations for a specific application are still <br /> reviewed by the Planning Commission. For example, if an applicant wishes to construct a sign <br /> that is taller than normally permitted, that type of request is still reviewed by the Planning <br /> Commission. <br /> Offsite Temporary Signs <br /> Off-site temporary signs will be permitted on private property and on City public right-of-way <br /> under the new sign code (Chapter 1200.IS). Up to five signs that are less than four square feet in <br /> size, less than four feet high, at least five feet from the edge of the road, and within one mile of <br /> the property the sign is attributed to may be placed for up to thrcc consecutive days in any seven <br /> day period. <br /> City of Arden Hills <br /> .
