Sampson Park Site Inspection Notes
Monday, October 13, 2025
Mike Christofore, Lucas Miller, Jess Skalicky

General Park Improvements
x Permanent trash receptacles are needed. They should be installed on permanent
concrete pads.
x The wooden picnic tables should be removed and replaced with modern tables that
match the style used in other city parks.
x Replace existing bench with a new one.
x “ēĖŜϙĖŜϙÍϙċŘĖôIJîīƅϙIJôĖČēæĺŘēĺĺîϙŕÍŘħϠϙÍIJîϙĖıŕŘĺŽôıôIJťŜϙŜēĺŪīîϙŘôƲôèťϙťēÍťϙ
character.
Parking and Access
x The parking pylons should be removed and regrade the area.
x Both asphalt pads (the parking lot and the pad next to the basketball court) need to
be redone.
Trails and Trees
x The paved trails should be straightened, either by shifting the trail to one side of the
trees or the other, or by removing one tree if necessary. However, as many trees as
possible should be preserved.
x The trees throughout the park need professional pruning and need to mostly be
protected-in-place, if possible.
x Road signs that are currently attached to trees should be removed and reinstalled
on proper posts.
x After checking the Ramsey County GIS, it appears the 5-8 pine trees along the north
side of the park are within the park’s boundary, not on the easement line as we had
thought while we were doing the inspection. They’re getting old. They don’t need
anything now, just noting they are old and it shows.
Playground Area
x The playground needs full replacement, including a new bench and a new concrete
container.
Attachment C
