<br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />~ <br />~LLS <br /> <br />CITY OF ARDEN HILLS <br />RAMSEY COUNTY, MINNESOTA <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 03-51 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING RAMSEY COUNTY EFFORTS TO SECURE <br />RESOURCES FOR UPGRADED COMMUNICATIONS SYSTEM <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Ramsey County has been reviewing the needs of the radio <br />communication system that provides emergency services to police, fire, and emergency medical <br />agencies in its jurisdiction; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Radio Board, as a result of legislative changes, has the <br />authority and resources to provide financial assistance to local units of government in the <br />metropolitan area that plan to participate in the regional 800 MHz digital trunked communication <br />system; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, special legislative authority has been given to Minnesota counties to issue <br />bonds for the purpose of designing, constructing, and installing the infrastructure, facilities, and <br />equipment necessary to participate in the regional system; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, federal funds have been appropriated and made available through the <br />Minnesota Department of Public Safety to supplement local and state funds for the purpose of <br />participating in the regional system, for which metropolitan area local governments are eligible; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, the City of Arden Hills has determined that participation in a regional <br />system would improve interoperability among various agencies and with other jurisdictions for <br />purposes of mutual aid and emergency medical services, thus improving public safety, as well as <br />the entire region's ability to respond to weapons of mass destruction incidents; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />ARDEN IDLLS supports an upgraded regional radio communications system and that the <br />metropolitan radio board be notified that the City supports Ramsey County's request for any State <br />or Federal financial incentives that may be available. <br /> <br />ADOPTED by the City Council this 14th day of July, 2003. <br /> <br />, <br /> <br /> <br />ATTEST: <br /> <br /> <br />erk <br />
