CALL TO ORDER <br /> The July 27,2004 joint meeting of the Parks, Trails and Recreation Committee and the Planning <br /> Commission was called to order at 7:00 p.m. <br /> PTRC MEMBERS PRESENT: Chair Bill Henry, Committee Members Jim Crassweller, Don <br /> Messerly, Rich Straumann, Roberta Thompson, Joani Werner and Steve Zilmer. <br /> PLANNING COMMISSION MEMBERS PRESENT: Chair David Sand, Commission <br /> Members Ken Bezdicek, Fran Holmes, Clayton Larson, Liz Modesette, Megan Ricke, <br /> Clayton Zimmerman, <br /> . OTHERS PRESENT: Tom Moore, Director Operations & Maintenance; Peter Hellegers, <br /> Planner; and Lois Rem, City Council Liaison; <br /> 2. GATEWAY SIGNS <br /> Participants discussed the history of intentions and planning for gateway signs for the city and <br /> reviewed current proposals for signs. <br /> MOTION: A motion was made and seconded to recommend that the City erect two <br /> monument signs - one on the southwest comer of Highway 96 and Lexington, and <br /> the second on the northeast corner of Cleveland and County Road D. <br /> The motion carried unanimously. <br /> 3. OTHER PROJECTS <br /> Discussion of other topics resulted in the following conclusion: trail resurfacing should be <br /> approached as scheduled maintenance, with funds invested by the City in the same approach that <br /> is used to resurface streets. <br /> The surface of the Diagonal Trail (a.k.a. Arden Hills Trail) and that of the trail around Hazelnut <br /> Park should be inspected with an eye toward resurfacing major portions each year. <br /> .
