0 <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br />COUNTY OF RAMSEY <br />VILLAGE OF ARDEN HILLS <br />ORDINANCE NO. 169 <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 105, <br />RELATING TO THE HUMAN RIGHTS COMMISSION, <br />BY ENLARGING THE COMPOSITION THEREOF <br />AND PROVIDING SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS FOR <br />REGULAR AND AD HOC MEMBERS THEREOF; <br />AND REPEALING ORDINANCE NO. 115. <br />The Village Council of the Village of Arden Hills does <br />hereby ordain as follows: <br />Section 1. Amendment of Ordinance No. 105. <br />Section 4 of Ordinance 105, relating to the Human <br />Rights Commission, is hereby amended in its entirety to <br />read as follows: <br />Section 4. Composition of Commission. The Com- <br />mission shall consistof ten (10) regular members to be <br />appointed by Mayor and with the advice and consent of <br />the Council. Additional ad hoc members, requested by <br />the Chairman of the Commission for special projects, <br />may also be appointed to serve thereon by the Mayor <br />and with the advice and consent of the Council. Both <br />regular and ad hoc members of the Commission shall be <br />appointed with due regard to their fitness for the ef- <br />ficient dispatch of the functions, powers and duties <br />vested in and imposed upon the Commission. <br />At least eight (a) of the regular members of the <br />Commission shall be a minimum of twenty-one (21) <br />years of age and each such adult member, after the <br />original appointments, shall be appointed for a term of <br />three (3) years, except that any person appointed to fill <br />a vacancy occurring prior to the expiration of the term <br />for which his predecessor was appointed shall be ap. <br />pointed only for the remainder of such term. The <br />regular members of the Commission who are less than <br />twenty-one (21) years of age shall be appointed for one <br />(1) year terms. Upon the expi ration of his term of office, <br />.a regular member shall continue to serve until his <br />successor is appointed and shall have qualified. To <br />insure regularity in the composition of the Commission, <br />the first year of any term of a regular member shall be <br />deemed to end at the expiration of the calendar year In <br />which the appointment is made. <br />Ad hoc members shall be appointed for one year (1) <br />terms, which shal I be deemed to have expired at the end <br />of the calendar year in which the appointment is made. <br />The first Commission shall consist of two (2) regular <br />members appointed for a term of three (3) years, two <br />(2) regular members for a term of two (2) years, and <br />two (2) regular members for a term of one (11 year. <br />Both regular members and ad hoc members of the <br />commission shall serve without compensation and may <br />be removed from office for cause by the Mayor. <br />Section 2. Repeal of Ordinance No. 115. <br />Ordinance No. 115, which amended Section 4 of Or. <br />dinance 105 to enlarge the composition of the Human <br />Rights Commission and provided specific qualifications <br />for the members thereof and which was passed by the <br />Council on the30th day of June, 1969, is hereby repealed <br />in its entirety. <br />Section 3. Effective Date. <br />This Ordinance shall be in effect from and after its <br />Passage and publication. <br />Passed by the Council of Arden Hills this 12th day of <br />February, 1973. <br />Henry J.
