<br />t <br />l <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />CITY OF ARDEN HILLS <br />COUNTY OF RAMSEY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 02-49 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION ENDORSING PRINCIPLES OUTLINED IN THE I-35W CORRIDOR <br />COALITION BUILD-OUT STUDY <br /> <br />WHEREAS: The North Metro 1-35W Corridor Coalition is a Joint Powers Authority <br />comprised of the cities of Arden Hills, Blaine, Circle Pines, Mounds View, New Brighton, <br />Roseville and Shoreview, and Ramsey County, and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS: The Coalition has completed a study (the Build Out Study) of future growth <br />scenarios and the potential impacts of each scenario, and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS: The Coalition desires to mitigate the impacts of anticipated growth III the <br />member cities while providing for economic growth and individual city initiatives, and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS: The Build Out Study demonstrates the value of incorporating transit supportive <br />and mixed use design concepts in development and redevelopment efforts, and, <br /> <br />. WHEREAS: The North Metro 1-35W Corridor Coalition Board of Directors has received and <br />considered the findings, conclusions and recommendations from the Build Out Study, <br /> <br />WHEREAS: The Board recommends that the individual member cities: <br />I. Adopt transit supportive and mixed use center design concepts as a means to guide <br />growth in the 1-35W Corridor, <br />2. Amend their Comprehensive Plans to include mixed use options, <br />3. Use overlay zones as an implementation strategy, <br />4. Incorporate changes in roadway networks to support mixed use development and <br />walkable neighborhoods. <br />5. Develop and implement transit service strategies needed to support the Coalition's <br />growth scenario, and, <br />6. Integrate lifecycle housing options into community planning activities. <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED: The City of Arden Hills endorses the principles outlined in the Build- <br />Out Study and supports the concepts of transit supportive and mixed use designs, and, intends to <br />apply these concepts where possible and practical in making local decisions. <br /> <br />PASSED AND ADOPTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARDEN HILLS <br />THIS 30th DAY OF SEPTEMBER, 2002. <br /> <br />. <br />
