. bridges will accommodate canoeing, the bridges at County Roads I
and H have access control gates to restrict access to the TCAAP.
k. Sanitary Sewer - a 24-inch diameter east-west flowing sanitary
sewer main passes through the southwestern corner of the segment
to a connection with the Mounds View municipal sanitary sewer
system.
3. New Brighton-Mounds View Segment - refer to map on page VI-31.
,
a. Overhead Electric Transmission Line - an east-west overhead
electric transmission line (34.5 KV) passes through the southem end
of the segment from Old Highway 8 to Mississippi Street. The
transmission line is located on a 130-foot wide Northern States
Power Company utility easement. Northern States Power Company
periodically clears the easement of trees that threaten interference
with the power lines. Due to the size of the towers and the location
of the easement, the existing transmission line is a significant visual
intrusion.
b. Bridges - Three box culverts and a railway trestle cross the channel
of Rice Creek (existing 1st Avenue N.W., future realignment of 1st
Avenue NW, Poppyseed Drive extension, Minnesota Central Railway
. tracks). The bridges do not impede canoeing of Rice Creek.
c. Realigned Old Highway 8 - the right of way for the Old Highway 8,
, which borders the segment on the east and intersects with County
Road H, will be relocated 500 feet westward of the existing 1 st
I Avenue NW alignment. The current roadbed of 1st Avenue NW
north of the entrance to Township Terrace Mobile Home Park will be
removed and reconstructed as a trailhead parking lot. Old Highway
8 has a ADT volume of 4400.
d. U.S. Highway 10 - a northwest-southeast four-lane wide highway
borders the segment on the east and joins Interstate Highway 35-W
separating the Arden Hills segment and New Brighton-Mounds View
segment. The highway has an ADT volume of 37,000. There is a
signal controlled intersection at County Road H.
e. Interstate Highway 35-W, a north-south four land wide interstate
separates the Arden Hills segment from the New Brighton-Mounds
View segment. The highway has a ADT volume of 81,000. The
highway crossing of Rice Creek is a box culvert. Pedestrian and
bicycle circulation between the two segments currently would be via
County Road H, which has a signal controlled intersection at U.S.
Highway 10.
.
VI-25
---------------
