Page 1 of 2 <br /> <br /> EDC AGENDA ITEM – 4A <br /> <br />MEMORANDUM <br /> <br />DATE: March 25, 2026 <br /> <br />TO: Economic Development Commission Chair and Commission Members <br /> <br />FROM: Elena Fransen, AICP, Senior Planner <br /> <br />SUBJECT: EDC Work Plan <br /> <br />Requested Action <br />Review the EDC-approved work plan as amended and the identified short-term milestones. <br />Background <br />The City Council’s Strategic Plan includes the adoption of an Economic Development <br />Commission work plan. The City Council is tentatively scheduled to review the work plan at an <br />April 2026 work session and adopt the work plan at a City Council meeting in June 2026. <br />At the February meeting, the Economic Development Commission reviewed the strategic plan and <br />the draft EDC work plan which incorporated goals and strategies identified from previous EDC <br />discussions. The EDC discussed how the EDC’s goals fit into the Strategic Plan goals and how the <br />collective goals drive work plan strategies for 2026 and 2027. <br />The EDC approved a motion to move forward with the draft work plan with an amendment to add <br />city social media to the City Engagement: Support City business operations goal. Following the <br />meeting, staff verified that the Senior Communications Coordinator manages the city’s X (fka <br />Twitter), Nextdoor, and Facebook social media accounts and also manages the city’s presence on <br />LinkedIn. The draft work plan (Attachment A) has been amended with the language below: <br />City social media – maintained by Senior Communications Coordinator to share information <br />and interact with businesses online through social media channels such as X, Nextdoor, and <br />Facebook <br />Possible EDC role: consult on what, where, and when business-related content is posted <br />to city social media accounts. Also consult regarding appropriate social media platforms <br />for successful business community engagement.
