RESOLUTION NO. 98-11 <br /> RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING APPLICATION FOR A GRANT FROM THE <br /> METROPOLITAN COUNCIL ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES (MCES) FOR THE <br /> IDENTIFICATION OF INFLOW AND INFILTRATION (I & I) PROBLEMS IN <br /> THE CITY'S SANITARY SEWER SYSTEM, <br /> WHEREAS, the MCES is providing matching grants of up to $10,000 to eligible City's for the <br /> study ofI & I in local sewer systems; and <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Arden Hills operates and maintains in excess of200,000 linear feet of <br /> sanitary sewer lines; and <br /> WHEREAS, Most of the City's sewer lines are exceeding 30 years in age and are constructed of <br /> clay pipe with tar joints; and <br /> WHEREAS, Much of the City's sewer lines lay around lakes and ponds and through marsh <br /> areas; and <br /> . WHEREAS, Infiltration and broken pipe have been identified through televising, partially paid <br /> for by a previous MCES grant. <br /> NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Arden Hills, that <br /> the City of Arden Hills Public Works Superintendent is hereby authorized to submit application <br /> and serve as a subject matter contact for an MCES matching grant in the amount of$IO,OOO, for <br /> the study of inflow and infiltration in the City sanitary sewer lines, <br /> PASSED AND ADOPTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARDEN HILLS <br /> THIS 26TH DAY OF JANUARY, 1998. <br /> DENNIS PROBST, MAYOR <br /> ATTEST: <br /> BRIAN FRITS INGER, CITY ADMINISTRATOR <br /> . <br />
