Page Five <br /> January 23, 1998 <br /> 4. 1998 Elections <br /> Staff has begun preliminary planning for the 1998 elections, and has <br /> corresponded with Ramsey County detailing some of these activities. <br /> 5. Community Renresentations <br /> I've attended a variety of meetings representing the City this past month. <br /> These include LMC Service Delivery Committee, Chamber of Commerce, <br /> and others. <br /> b. Committee Updates <br /> Staff prepared and delivered notes to each individual serving on an Arden Hills <br /> Committee, Commission, or Task Force about their 1998 appointment, and <br /> expressing the Council's appreciation of their service. <br /> c. Community Development <br /> 1. Gateway Business District (GBD) <br /> StatIhas continued to participate in meetings with Welsh, Naegele, our <br /> attorneys, engineer, and financial consultants on the GBD project. The <br />. project closing has been delayed, and is now tentatively scheduled for <br /> January 29, 1998. <br /> 2. TCAAP <br /> The City has been made aware that a response from Alliant Techsystems <br /> to the February 25, 1997 letter requesting cooperation on consolidation or <br /> relocation will be received within the week. Alliant has verbally requested <br /> that the City contact IOC to discuss Phase II planning efforts at TCAAP. <br /> Staff is attempting to schedule a meeting with local otlicials to discuss this <br /> item in more depth. Should a response be received from Alliant, staff will <br /> request additional discussion with the City Council in the near future. <br /> d. Personnel <br /> 1. Health Insurance Renewal/Review <br /> An employee committee has been formed to investigate and review a <br /> number of coverage options. Currently, we are awaiting one more quote <br /> from Blue Cross/Blue Shield on a larger co-op group, Once this is <br /> received and evaluated against other options, a recommendation will be <br /> forwarded to the City Council. <br />. 2. Short-term Disability. Long-term Disability. and Life Insurance <br /> Staff prepared an initial recommendation on changes to the employee <br /> benefit program for these items. Quotes have been solicited and received, <br />
